We are looking for work by the Darlington artist James Lindsey Bird. An online gallery of his drawings, watercolours, pastels and oil paintings is being developed, which it is hoped will be added to over time. It can be viewed on our new James Lindsey Bird page.
Lindsey Bird was the art master at Darlington Grammar School from 1941 to 1961. He died in 1972, having completed a large body of work, across a range of art media.
Although his works were frequently unsigned, many of his paintings and sketches do include the artists initials, JLB, the signature J. L. Bird, J. Lindsey Bird, or his customary Dickie Bird logo. Examples of these can be seen below.
If you do have an example of his work and would like to have it included in the gallery, please email email@example.com.
